The short version: we collect as little as possible, we don't use tracking or advertising cookies, and we never sell your information.

What we collect

When you visit the site

We keep simple, privacy-friendly visit counts so we know which pages help people. For each visit we record the page viewed, where you arrived from (for example a link from Facebook or a search engine), your approximate location (city, region, and country, as estimated by our hosting provider Cloudflare from your network), and whether you're on a phone or a computer. To estimate how many people visit, we use a daily, scrambled signature based on your browser and network. It rotates every day, can't be traced back to you, and we don't use it to build a profile. None of this uses advertising trackers, and none of it is shared with third parties.

When you contact us

If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, and message so we can reply and keep a record of the conversation. We use that information only to respond to you.

When you donate

Donations are processed securely by Square. Your card details go straight to Square and are never seen or stored on our website. We may see basic confirmation details (such as the amount, date, and status) so we can keep accurate records and thank our supporters.

Staff accounts

Shelter staff sign in to manage the site. For those accounts we store an email address and login credentials. This does not apply to regular visitors.

Cookies

We use only the essential cookies needed to run the site: ones that keep forms secure and keep staff signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your information. We rely on a few trusted providers to operate the site, and they only handle data on our behalf:

• Square for donations and payment processing
• Microsoft 365 for sending and receiving email
• Cloudflare for website hosting, security, and delivery

How long we keep it

We keep contact messages and visit data only as long as they're useful, and we don't hold onto more than we need. You can ask us to delete your contact information at any time.

Your choices

You're welcome to ask what information we have about you, or to have it removed. Just reach out through our contact page or give us a call.

Children

Our site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top. For anything significant we'll do our best to note it on the site.
