Post courtesy of Lincoln Daily News: On Saturday morning, the sons and daughters-in-law of the late Donna Welch delivered $1,200 in memorial donations in honor of their mother to the Humane Society of Logan County. Left to right are Jerry Welch, Ashley and Sara Welch, Marilyn and Dan Wheat with the HSLC, and Tracy and Annette Welch. Ashley and Sara are regular volunteers at the HSLC. Ashley said his mom was a supporter of the HSLC and would be excited about the amount of money that her friends and family donated to the shelter. The shelter is managed entirely by volunteers. All the money raised goes directly to overhead and maintenance at the shelter and the care and feeding of the orphaned animals in their care. Marilyn Wheat said that the HSLC is honored and very appreciative of the memorial donations made regularly at the shelter. She was also happy to report that the HSLC benefited nicely from the Betty White Challenge held after the passing of that television and movie star who was an adamant supporter of no-kill alternatives for orphaned animals. Ashley said it was also a good time to mention that the shelter is hosting a volunteer drive. Volunteers are needed with multiple daily time slots available.
